This quilt almost looks as though it was intended to be made of straight, symmetrical shapes with edges that actually line up. The nine-patch blocks are "almost" square, but irregular enough that they give the quilt a rather jumpy feeling. It is slightly off-kilter by having the subtle deviations in construction. The colors, however, are anything but subtle. The randomly placed appliqués give the quilt considerable movement.
