I actually had an aquarium during the time I was making this quilt. I’m not sure it was the real inspiration for the piece, but the design does remind me of aquarium colors, air tubes, and bubbles. Several of the fabrics have fish or vegetation motifs. The small squares in the vertical black areas were made from tiny strips of fabric inserted into the seam allowances and sewed into a square shape.
